Being 'Green' to us is all about getting the balance right

Environment:

Cornwall is beautiful: it has fantastic beaches & coastline: glorious wildlife: spectacular scenery aplenty. We have a duty and, indeed, a keen desire to keep it this way for us all to enjoy now and in the future. And this inevitably means we must take care of the bigger picture.

Society:

Cornwall is rich with traditions and heritage and this needs to be encouraged and nurtured to ensure its survival and development.

Economy:

It's a fact that money makes the world go round... there's no getting away from it. Without it we cannot contribute to sustaining our environment and our society.

With all this in mind we focus on:

Cutting down on the energy and water we use:

  • Energy efficient lighting, heating and laundry.
  • Showers and low flush toilets.
  • Water butts.
  • Using public transport (or our own legs) wherever possible.

Minimising waste by reducing, re-using and recycling.

  • Cutting out plastic carrier bags.
  • Composting and wormery.
  • Use of recycled products.
  • Recycling what we can't re-use.

Taking care of nature:

  • Organic gardening
  • Providing habitat to encourage wildlife.
  • Membership of Cornwall Wildlife Trust and The National Trust.
  • Following the Country Code.

And we support our local cultural & economic society by:

  • Using local independent shops.
  • Supporting local events and festivals.
  • Buying local produce.
  • Encouraging visitors to experience more of Cornwall.

We aim to put back more than we take out... taking responsibility and reducing the impact we have on the environment.

Do something... Don't do nothing!
